Please consider joining the Long Term Recovery Group, RAFT (Recovery After Floods Team):
It is a small group organization with big potential to help lift, or float, our neighbors and local flood survivors out of the difficult place they may be in. We are currently working in Huntington, Hinesburg, and Richmond with the potential to expand as needed.
The goal of a long term recovery group is to assist survivors as they navigate the often difficult process of recovery. Whether this be FEMA applications, grant applications, rebuild needs or finding contractors. Everyone has the ability to help in some way or another.
Some goals for the coming months are
-Build a Board of Directors
-Set out a mission statement
-Write out our by-laws
-Make a small team of Case Managers that can start reaching out to survivors in our neighborhoods
-Start doing construction assessments (I will try to start these this week)
-Pick off low hanging fruit (debris removals, tree work jobs, muck/ guts)
-Start to schedule volunteer work days to help get homes that were flood impacted ready for winter
-Build up community engagement / understanding of who we are and what we are here to accomplish
The next meeting is on Oct 10, 2024, 6 to 7:30 PM
VIRTUAL LINK WILL BE POSTED WHEN AVAILABLE
