The Richmond Water Resources department provides you with safe, high-quality water and tertiary wastewater treatment. These services are essential to your everyday life.

Our Board of Water/Sewer Commissioners and staff strive to maintain a proactive approach to management of the facilities, process, and infrastructure. This philosophy is supported by a continuous, documented high level of achievement and treatment process optimization. We manage two systems that include more than 30 miles of pipes. The water system provides water to customers from a well that pumps to a reservoir that gravity feeds the system. The wastewater system collects and treats all that used water to reuse standards before discharging to the Winooski river.

We have provided dedicated service to the community since 1969. Richmond’s water has been rated one of the top ten best in the nation twice. Richmond’s wastewater treatment facility won a 1997 national award and 2021 state award for outstanding operations and maintenance. Our primary mission is to protect public health and the environment.
